First, the prep work.
After formally outlining the scope of the project, I will put together some homework assignments to help inform any design decisions and prepare for the project to run as seamlessly as possible.
The homework normally looks like: a collection or moodboard of pieces that you’ve previously done that you need to match, plus any other inspiration images or content that have the look/feel/coloring/style/voice that you find inspiring. Also, I will ask a series of questions meant to know in-depth what you’re looking for on the finished product.
After you’ve completed the homework, I will ask that you provide me with any and all content (written files, sourced images, branding guidelines and other requirements) that must be included in the finished piece. Ideally, this content will be complete, approved and proofed in order to minimize the amount of in-layout changes we need to make (and save you money).
Optional: a follow-up call to go over any last minute questions you might have about the project.
Second, concepts.
Depending on the way the we have outlined our working relationship, I will provide you with a few different concepts to review. While the concepts will be visually different, there is usually an overarching theme or feeling. The concepts will also include suggested color palettes if you haven’t provided one to use.
Third, proofing.
Once you have selected a concept that works for your project, we will zero in by dropping in the content, image and other required elements within. Afterward, we will go through 2-3 rounds of proofing to tighten everything up and ensure we’ve dotted all i’s and crossed all t’s.
Final approval.
Upon final approval, provided in writing via email or by marking the project approved in the project management platform we’ve selected; I will provide with an invoice for the completed work and upon payment I will provide all the deliverables per the scope of work that has been outlined.
